Celebrate the debut of a new roleplaying game setting, Horror Cinema Classics, with Sanctum After Dark on Saturday, August 23rd, from 8 pm to midnight, presented by local designers Wayward Studios:
Step into the chilling world of Horror Cinema Classics, a role-playing game that plunges players into the eerie, neon-lit nightmares of 1980s horror movies.
In this cinematic adventure, players – known as “actors” – embody iconic archetypes of 80’s movies, from monster hunter to warrior priest to mad scientist. They confront The Darkness, an ancient, malevolent force twisting reality and unleashing monstrous terrors with an ultimate purpose shrouded in mystery. With its foundation in the popular Dungeon Crawl Classics game engine, Horror Cinema Classics challenges actors to hold back The Darkness while battling to preserve their humanity.
Will you be the one to rewrite the script—or fall victim to the horrors waiting in the shadows?
Play one of three cinematic adventures before they are released mid-September! Pizza and soda will be served to RPG players just after The Sanctum closes to the general public at 10 pm, compliments of Wayward Studios. This event is simply to promote the debut and not to sell product, but some swag may be available for players!

Game Titles and Descriptions:
Bloodball, with designer Mark Manchester: It's 1987 in small-town Wisconsin. The high school's football team has been on an amazing winning streak. This is just what the town needed after last year's tragic events at Everson's farm. But the Darkness will not be stopped. It just found a new disciple. This is a 1st level adventure for Horror Cinema Classics (HCC)!
The Evil at Everson Farm, with designer Eric Anderson: It’s 1986 in rural Wisconsin, and you’re a high schooler invited to a barn party at classmate Nancy Everson’s family farm. Her parents are out of town, the beer is flowing, and the night promises music, mischief, and maybe a little romance. But as the sun sets and the party kicks into gear, your classmates start disappearing. Something is lurking in the darkness… something ancient, angry, and very real. This is a 0-level flick (funnel) for Horror Cinema Classics (HCC)!
Toy Store Terror, with designer Andy Patch: It's Halloween night 1986, and you and your pals have been roped into helping set up the new Toyz-R-Whee! store by your good friend, Susie Slaughter. The night starts out simply enough, but you learn pretty quickly that this is not your standard high school gig. Can you survive the graveyard shift? This is a 0-level flick(funnel) for Horror Cinema Classics (HCC)!
