Descriptions of Upcoming Highlighted Games:
Aquatica (June 2nd): In this game you will become one of the mighty ocean kings, struggling to bring glory to his realm. To win the game, you need to capture and buy locations, recruit new characters, and complete goals; each of these actions gives you victory points at the end of the game. To do so, you need to play cards from your hand (each with a unique set of actions) and combine them. Don't think it's simple! With a good strategy during your turn, you can take up to ten actions in a row.
Ticket to Ride (June 9th): With elegantly simple gameplay, Ticket to Ride can be learned in under 15 minutes. Players collect cards of various types of train cars they then use to claim railway routes in North America. The longer the routes, the more points they earn. Additional points come to those who fulfill Destination Tickets – goal cards that connect distant cities; and to the player who builds the longest continuous route. Promo trains will be given to players at this event!
Wrath of Fire Mountain (June 16th): Welcome to the land of Fire Mountain, a primordial land of ever shifting terrain where tribes vie for control using the power of their dinosaurs and the blessing of the volcano. Each turn in Wrath of Fire Mountain, you roll the dice Yahtzee-style, then take actions with the die results. If you have enough cave people on the dinosaur-hatching region, you can take one of the dinosaurs, each with a special power, from this area and add them to your supply. If all of the volcano spaces are filled, the volcano erupts and players are rewarded for their presence on the land. After a volcano scoring, if a player has reached a point threshold that's based on the number of players, the game ends, and whoever has the most points wins.
The Grand Carnival (June 23rd): Ladies and gentlemen, step right up — the carnival is coming to town! In The Grand Carnival, players compete to create the most impressive carnival this town has ever seen. You'll need to carefully plan your carnival's layout, build attractions, hire staff, and manage the crowds, all while learning a few tricks of the trade. Each turn, players cover a number on their player board, then select an action. The covered number determines the effectiveness of their action — and won't become available again until the next round — so players need to think carefully about which number to use. After seven rounds, the game ends. Players earn points from sets of the same size attractions, sets of each size of attraction, carnival barkers, guests that move all the way through your park, and their tickets. The player with the most points wins!
Dungeon Fighter (June 30th): Explore spooky dungeons, find glorious treasure, buy powerful magic items, and challenge the most horrible creatures. Will your party be able to defeat the final boss? In Dungeon Fighter, a fully cooperative board game, players take on the roles of heroes venturing deep into a three-tier dungeon. Along the way, they explore the dungeon, search its many rooms, and face endless hordes of vicious monsters. Best of all, your skill determines the ability of your character. Can you kill Medusa without looking into her eyes, defeat the Minotaur in the labyrinth, or resist the breath of the dragon? Will you be able to hit a target by throwing the dice under your leg with your eyes closed? You will feel truly part of a centuries-old battle between good and evil...with a touch of foolish stupidity.
